Deconstructed Zine

'Work about Problems’ is a deconstructed zine using collage, photo media, and text to explore the spiritual through the mundane. This low-fi body of work combines vintage magazines, typewriter text, biro, coloured pencil, paint and stationery, layering familiar images—household objects, interior décor, distorted figures, and landscapes—with poetic psychological prompts.

The collaged compositions function as accessible self-help guides, gently offering emotional insight and support without overwhelm. For example, Three Chairs Advice features vintage chair images arranged in a step-by-step guide, reminding the viewer to rest, seek support, and practice self-care.

Playfully drawing on the aesthetics of nostalgia, the works lean into the sentimental while probing how psychological language and positive reprogramming can be communicated visually. By animating the inanimate, ‘Work about Problems’ creates a space where the banal becomes meaningful—where guidance, comfort, and connection emerge from the everyday.
